This scholarship pays tribute to our late San Diego Chapter matriarch, a distinguished FAA Designated Examiner, test pilot, aircraft saleswoman, and record-setting air racing legend with over 20,000 general aviation hours logged. Fran's remarkable 69-year membership in the Ninety-Nines was the 7th longest in the organization's history. She was a steadfast advocate for women pilots, especially student pilots. In keeping with her wish, this scholarship aims to assist a dedicated and active 99s member in achieving her Private Pilot certificate.

This award provides $12,000 to help the recipient reach this milestone. Applicants must demonstrate active participation as a member and present a clear plan to complete their training within 12 months.
